Cotecna attends CIQA Conference

On September 2nd, Cotecna attended the CIQA membership conference of the Import and Export Commodity Inspection and Appraisal Institutions Branch in Shanghai.

As the largest association in China's TIC industry, the China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Association (CIQA) Import and Export Commodity Inspection and Appraisal Organization Branch held a member representative meeting in Shanghai on September 2.

The event was attended by about 150 representatives, including the president of the association, the secretary-general, the deputy director of the inspection department of the General Administration of Customs, former deputy director of Shanghai Customs, and key TIC companies, Cotecna among them.

As one of the global leaders in the TIC industry, Cotecna was represented by Mr. Mike Neil, Vice President of Cotecna’s North Asia Business Group and was invited by the Association to give a speech on the overview of the TIC industry.

As part of his presentation, Mr. Neil discussed the current status and trends of the TIC industry, the economic impact of China's “One Belt and One Road” initiative and Sino-US trade frictions, the policy situation surrounding smart customs, as well as highlighting hot industries such as food safety and new energy.

 “As leaders in the TIC sector, we must strive to adapt through continuous improvements and innovation. We are determined to build a more efficient service delivery platform to better fulfil our customers’ needs, in a continuously changing market environment”, said Mike Neil.

Ms. Tina Zhang, General Manager of Cotecna China for GTS & VOC, was also invited to attend the China TIC Industry Roundtable Forum. On the 45th anniversary of Cotecna’s founding, Zhang Ying took the opportunity to introduce the history and innovation of the Cotecna Group to the audience, presented our customized services in Government and Trade Solutions, and our rich industry experience in China. Last but not least, Ms. Zhang promoted GTS WORKS, Cotecna China’s new online training studio for the customs and trade industry, which was launched in February 2019.

After a full day of meetings, the conference concluded successfully. Cotecna’s presentation and speech were well received and prompted further discussion and exchanges with the delegates. A big thank you to everyone who attended and participated.
